Shooting new experiences is always a wonderful challenge for me.  I had never done a Vietnamese Tea Ceremony before and when Victoria told me they’d love to have me cover theirs, I started some research so I would be well prepared for this beautiful tradition.

For those who don’t know, the groom presents gifts to the bride’s family to receive their blessing for her hand. It’s a celebration to honor their ancestors and relatives.  The “formal” introduction of their families meeting one another. The couple took turns serving tea to their in-laws while asking for their blessing on marrying one another.

Ian’s face when Victoria walked into the room was one for the books.  She and her mom smiled from ear to ear as they came down the stairs and locked eyes with Ian.

They were surrounded by family and their wedding party in a celebration of heritage and their love story.  Soon, you’ll see a look into their American wedding celebration, but for now, here’s a look into this beautiful tradition.

Yours truly,
Sara
