Romantic Storytelling, Fine Art Wedding Photographer

Zach & Erica were affected by Covid and refused to give up their dream wedding day because of it.  They got married intimately on their original date in April and had their best day ever just a few months later. Although they were already married, you wouldn’t have known it from how excited they both were.

Such a pretty place to get married!

Zach & Erica came across my work on The Journey Home’s Instagram and I was so excited to go back.  It’s one of my favorite venues in the Kansas City area.  All the natural light, picturesque opportunities and the bridal suite is a gorgeous, mini ballroom!

Erica’s mom, sisters and bridesmaids helped her get ready with pure excitement floating through the air.  Everyone was beaming.  After Erica was dressed, she did a first look with her dad that was absolutely priceless.

Just a few moments later, she and Zach shared a first look and even though he had already seen the dress back in April, his face was taken aback by how beautiful his wife looked.  They read letters to each other and a lot of happy tears followed as they joked about their hands feeling naked without their wedding rings on.

Their ceremony was the first at The Journey Home to take place in front of the barn.  The heat of the day decided to join us and it made for a toasty, August ceremony.  It was a sweet vow renewal that included her sister and one of his groomsmen singing a duet during the breaking of bread. We could feel God’s presence over their marriage and it just encompassed the entire day.  Zach dipped her for the (second) first kiss and they walked hand in hand towards their getaway car to go back to the home while guests enjoyed cocktail hour.

The night had everyone partying away. Everyone soaked up being able to feel the closeness of their friends and family again.  If Covid has taught me anything, it’s how much social interaction the human race needs.  We need to feel connected, to feel loved, important, wanted and cherished.  I could see it in the eyes of the guests, of the couple, of the family as they greeted one another, shared laughs over drinks and danced like nobody was watching them.

They ended the night with a sparkler exit at dusk and it couldn’t have been a more perfect way to end the day.

Zach & Erica,

I can’t wait to share the full gallery with you soon but in the meantime, welcome home from your honeymoon and enjoy this sneak peek.  🙂

Yours Truly,
Sara
