Dallas and Jake are sweethearts. You know, the kind that you hear of in fairytales where they finish each other’s sentences, look hopelessly in love towards one another and everything seems to fall into place as they pull in close.
As Dallas got ready at the hotel, you could feel her excitement building in the room. I worked on her gorgeous details as they finished up her hair and makeup. Her closest friends and family in the room with her, laughing and helping as they could. As the flower girl (her adorable seven year old sister) put on her shoes without even being asked, her mom put the final touch on–her cathedral veil. The perfect detail for a traditional Catholic wedding.
Jake stood at the altar. He was bouncing a bit anxiously as all eyes turned to the doors in the back of the church. Aa small sigh that sounded more like a “wow” left his lips as she entered the room. Her father looked at Jake then turned to look towards his not so little girl. He bit his lip for a moment, blinked away a couple of tears and then looked ahead. Dallas’ mom locked eyes with him for a split second and she sent him a reassuring smile.
Jake was now smiling as big as he could. He took Dallas’ hand and walked her towards the beginning of their happily, ever after. Father talked about God’s plan for them and for the world. How God created love to help bring more and more souls into the world so that His kingdom will be filled with so many loved ones. Coming from a large, Catholic family herself, this homily seemed to fit perfectly for them. Before long, they shared their first kiss as husband and wife and were greeted with tons of bubbles and cheers as they exited the church.
Back at the reception, a donut wall tempted the kids as they patiently waited for the bride & groom to be announced. Jake pulled Dallas in for a kiss on the dance floor as soon as they entered. The ballroom filled with love as the two of them sat for dinner and watched a slideshow of their lives.
Soon after, dancing commenced and the night was filled with fun memories that are sure to last a lifetime.
